Growing My Prayers
Scripture Reading: Mark 11:2-25
Key Verse: Mark 11:24
Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.
Unless you believe that He was a great exaggerator, Jesus is giving us a tremendous promise for our prayers in today’s key verse: “Whatever you ask for in prayer,” is a wide open promise. I think all of us would get excited to read and claim this for our prayer life! Do you have a need—a want—that you would like to ask Jesus for today? God wants you to trust Him to be the “supplier” of all your needs.
Jesus does challenge us with the phrase: “Believe that you have received it.” In other words, He wants us to believe we have received it before we have received it! This makes our prayers and our lives a walking testimony to our belief in the power and character of our God. For example, if I told you that I would do you a favor in the next few days, I would want you to believe me. I would be honored if you didn’t worry about it and acted as if I already had completed the task! That would tell me how much you trust me!
So it is with our walk with God. When you ask for a favor from God, He wants you to walk around in faith and total trust in Him. God is honored when you relax—hardly think about it—because you so believe that it is taken care of by your Father in heaven!
Those who daily do their best to please their Father are not going to ask with wrong motives as Jesus warns us in James 4:3. Trust God’s heart and His timing for all your needs.
Father, I want to live today in a way that will testify to your goodness and faithfulness to me. I receive these blessings from your hand. In Jesus’ Name, amen.
