God grants us a fresh installment of His compassion and mercies each morning; receive it

The Devil and Discouragement
New Every Morning

Scripture Reading: Lamentations 3:22-26

Key Verse: Lamentations 3:23

They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

There is nothing better, it seems to most of us, than to have a fresh start. A fresh start at a frustrating project at work. Maybe a fresh start at a struggling relationship. Fresh starts give us renewed energy—a refill on hope for success. A good night’s rest gives us a fresh start on another day!

God grants us a fresh installment of His compassion and mercies each morning. It is a wonderful reminder for us children of the Most High God. We wake up each morning to a fresh beginning with our Father in heaven as He grants us new mercies for that day. Our yesterday may have been a rough one. We wrestle with the enemy—fighting off temptation and/or discouragement. Sometimes we will feel victorious, other times we will feel like failures. Yet, without fail, each morning our Father grants us a refill in our souls. If we have eyes to see and faith to receive, we start each day with His fresh gifts of compassion and acts of mercy.

Jeremiah wrote of God; “Great is your faithfulness” (Lamentations 3:23). As faithful as the sun rising, so is the compassion and mercy of our God. He will not fail to show you favor. His love is steadfast and sure. A hymn the first Christians used to sing is recorded in 2 Timothy 2:11-13: “If we are faithless, he will remain faithful for he cannot disown himself.”

Father, I gratefully receive your fresh mercies today! Thank you for your faithfulness to me. It is by your mercies that I am made strong! In Jesus’ Name, amen.
