Trust God’s Opinion
The New Has Come
Scripture Reading: 2 Corinthians 5:11-15
Key Verse: 2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!
Learning how to be used of God effectively results from learning God’s opinion about ourselves. Yesterday’s devotional reminded us that Moses missed God’s “Plan A” because He rejected God’s opinion about Moses’ ability. You and I can fall into this same trap if we’re not cautious.
Our scripture for today tells us that God’s opinion of us is based on our radical transformation, accomplished by Christ Jesus. If we have received Jesus Christ into our lives, we become a “new creation.” Many of our opinions about ourselves are based on the old creation … what we were before Jesus Christ. Our memories are jammed full of events and circumstances that have formed our self-evaluations. Our old sinful behaviors and our many failures are still “floating in the waters” of our memory. It is extremely important for us to trust God’s opinion concerning us – He sees clearly the “new” you! Our opinions and other people’s opinions are based on the “old” stuff … no longer relevant to our present realities in Christ! You are a new creation because of Jesus – allow that fact to saturate your thinking!
Joel Olsteen, the popular TV preacher, starts each of his messages with a phrase I really like: “I am what the Bible says I am.” We need to repeat that often and allow it to build our faith in God’s opinion of each of us! You can do all things, today, because God says you can!
Father, I want to delete the old negative messages that described me before you entered my life. Grant me your Spirit and strengthen my inner being. In Jesus’ Name, amen.
