Are you plugged in? Are you devoted to the things of God? God’s power is available to all who will plug in

Plug In…Power Up!
Give Yourself

Scripture Reading: Acts 2:40-47

Key Verse: Acts 2:42

They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.

Join me in an experiment today. Take note of people around you and their conversations. Note the passion, or lack of passion, with which they describe the events in their lives. I’d like you to look for what people give themselves to in varying intensity. Throughout the day I would guess you will find that most people give themselves at a passionate level to at least one thing. It may be their job, or it may be some recreational activity; it may be their kids, or it may be a charity organization but, again, most people give themselves to something.

Now, let me ask you: What are you giving yourself to? Our scripture today describes the early Christ followers and what they gave themselves to. They were passionate; “devoted” to the apostle’s teaching, to fellowship among other believers, communion and prayer. If you take the time to read the additional reading for today, you’ll find that these Christ followers were obviously plugged in and powered up! They didn’t live their lives on the fringes, being half committed to the cause of Christ and building His Kingdom!

Are you plugged in? Are you devoted to the things of God? As you look at your weekly activities, what consumes you? Remember, God’s power is available to all who will plug in.

Father give me wisdom to honestly evaluate my passions in this life. Help me to grow in my intensity toward the eternal. I ask this in Jesus’ Name, amen.
