Plug In…Power Up!
Scripture Reading: Acts 3:1-10
Key Verse: Acts 3:4
Peter looked straight at him, as did John. Then Peter said, “Look at us!”
We all do it. We pass by people with hardly a glance. If someone asked us what color their shirt was or the color of their hair, we probably would not be able to remember; we didn’t really see them. I am assuming that Peter and John had passed by the cripple, described in our scripture for today, many times. I am positive that Peter and John had a routine of going for prayer at 3:00 pm each afternoon, as was the custom of all Jews. I am also sure that this crippled beggar had sat in this same spot, day after day, probably for many years. But one day, this day described in chapter three, the cripple got Peter and John’s attention. On this day they finally truly looked at this beggar and God did a miracle through them.
As you and I walk through this day, will we see the people around us? Will we be plugged in and ready to hear a voice calling out for help? Will we be able to see beyond the surface conversation and get to the real cries for help? If so, God has some miracles for us to share as well!
“Life plugged in,” among other things, means engaging in the lives of people around us that can so easily be ignored if we’re not attentive to God’s Spirit. Let’s ask God to help us to look straight at people today so we can be a channel of His grace and love to them.
Father, life is hectic, and I can run too fast and pass by people that need me to slow down and share your love. Open my eyes and help me to see them – really see them. In Jesus’ Name, amen.
