Five Godly Men and the Lies They Believed
Five Godly Men and the Lies They Believed October 2020

Faith says “God is stronger in me than anything that comes against me”; there is a way so keep looking and believing!

I Can’t Take It Anymore
You Can Stand!

Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 10:11-22

Key Verse: 1 Corinthians 10:13

No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.

Elijah, as godly as he truly was, had succumbed to the lie that he just couldn’t take any more. God spoke to him through an angel. The apostle Paul is God’s voice to us today! Inspired by the Holy Spirit, Paul wrote that all temptations are common to man. That means the devil is a liar when he tells you how unusually bad you have it! He is a liar when he makes you feel that no one else is facing this kind of test. God has promised us that we won’t face any issues but what is common to mankind.

Also, God promises not to allow anything to come to His children that would be more than they could bear. We all have experienced times when we felt that we just couldn’t continue, but it was never true. We will never have to worry that future circumstances or events will overwhelm us, causing defeat. If we allow these things to take us there, it’s because we’ve believed the devil’s lies.

Our Key Verse for today goes on to promise a way out of every tight spot! Temptations are all about one thing: Will we believe God is right or not? If I believe I can’t, I won’t try. If I believe a test or temptation is too overwhelming, I’ve lost the battle. Faith says, “God is stronger in me than anything that comes against me. There is a way. Keep looking and believing!”

Father, peace comes to my mind as I allow your truth to drive out the devil’s lies! I’ll trust you and you alone today! In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
