Trust God’s Opinion
Scripture Reading: Ephesians 4:1-3
Key Verse: Ephesians 4:7
But to each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it.
What does your “portion” of God’s plan look like? Never thought about it? You should! God has apportioned to each of us a “slice” of His plan for our lives. Webster defines “apportion” as “divide out in shares.” God has this huge, divine plan for our world. Jesus taught us to pray that God’s will would be done on earth as it is in Heaven. To accomplish this perfect plan, God has decided to use us frail human beings … anyone who has received Jesus Christ into their heart. Let’s consider how this works.
First, God must “buy us back” from the evil one that separated us from God in the first place. This is called redemption. God redeems us in order to use us in His great plan.
Secondly, God seeks to separate us from the old sinful behaviors of our past. This is called sanctification. The apostle Paul describes this in 1 Thessalonians 4:23-24: May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The one who calls you is faithful and he will do it.
Finally, God analyzes our past, present, and future experiences – then apportions us our part in His great plan. This is a “gifting” of grace. In other words, an unearned place in the Family of God! God wants us to investigate this until we find our place to serve Him. Your “portion” is waiting for you … if you have not already found it and are using it to His glory.
This week’s theme is about trusting God’s opinion. Will you trust God’s apportionment to you? It may challenge your opinion of yourself … whose opinion will win out?
Father, I doubt myself at times, but today I will trust your opinion and faithfully use my ‘apportionment’ to your glory. In Jesus’ Name.”
