Plug In…Pour Out
Poured Out Love
Scripture Reading: Romans 5:1-11
Key Verse: Romans 5:5
And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.
If you are a Christ follower, born again by your faith in Jesus Christ, you have experienced God’s love poured out! This love to us was not sprinkled or sparse, it was generously poured. John wrote: “How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!” (1 John 3:1). There is nothing stingy about how God decided to give us His love. He poured it out in massive doses!
You and I have one life to give. What will we give it to? How will we give it? These two questions must be given clear answers. If we are not very intentional, we will default into a life given to selfish ambition. If we are not intentional, we will give little and keep a lot! If we don’t demand more of ourselves, we’ll accomplish little that is eternal and much that is temporal. If you don’t look honestly at the actual time, energy and dollars you give to Kingdom purposes, you’ll easily become comfortable in mediocrity.
God poured out His love upon us. Is it too radical for us to pour out our love upon people who need Jesus? Is it too much to ask for God’s people to climb down out of the spectator stands and play in the game? Yes, there are many benefits for those who do, but this must be done in response to God’s poured out love! We serve God and His Kingdom because we were served by God and His Kingdom! Will you join me in plugging in and pouring out our lives for an eternal purpose?
Father, thank you for the hope that will not disappoint. Thanks for the lavished love. I’ll pass it on. In Jesus’ Name, amen.
