Is There Only One Way?
No Other Name – Part 2
Scripture Reading: Acts 4:5-12
Key Verse: Acts 4:12
There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.
I asked the question at the end of yesterday’s devotional, should we change the story of Jesus being the ONLY way to make Him more tolerable to our world? What will happen if we stick to the truth of the Bible? Well, we certainly will take some heat from those who do not share our faith in the Bible, but we will release the truth to do its work and the Holy Spirit to apply it to people’s lives. Note that in our scripture passage 5,000 men, plus women and children became believers because of Peter and John’s message.
God will tug at the hearts of people listening to the message of the gospel. The power is in the message, not the messengers! If Peter and John had softened the message, the results would have been a dismal failure. But the message, without filtering, is powerful and will transform the hearts of all who receive it and believe it.
When given the opportunity to share the gospel, will we be bold and remind people that Jesus is the only name by which people can be saved? Can we have the same courage as these apostles and share the facts of the Bible without filtering it to appease this society we live in? With God’s help, we can and must! People are going down the wrong path and we must be courageous enough to point them to the right path. We are not responsible for their response to the message, only our faithful presentation of the message. God will work on their hearts, helping them to believe if they are sincerely seeking God.
Father, grant me opportunity and courage to share the Good News with people today. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
