How to be Used by God

God’s people are that are busy doing their life ministries, are too busy for negative thoughts

More Than a Job
Maturity

Scripture Reading: Ephesians 4:11-16

Key Verse: Ephesians 4:14

Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming.

This month we are looking at how to be used of God. This week’s teaching is about our part in being open to and finding where God wants to use us. I hope you have gotten the point – this will be much more than a job. To be used of God, we must surrender our very lives to the “works of service” He is calling us to. If you read the additional scriptures suggested for today, you will note that pastors and teachers are to use their giftedness to prepare God’s other children for works of service so that the body of Christ (the Church) may be built up! If this doesn’t happen in a church, a terrible consequence occurs: People will be immature in their walk with God. Immaturity leads to fights and quarrels within the church – dividing it and crippling its witness to our world!

I have found that when a church is operating like the New Testament instructs, God’s people are busy doing their life ministries, they will be too busy to get involved with negative “nit picking” at each other! Idleness is harshly dealt with in scripture (2 Thessalonians 3:6). God’s people have a huge responsibility to reach our world, before it’s too late. When each of us finds our life ministry, our maturity in Christ will be complete, according to the apostle Paul. In fact, Paul goes even further in describing Christ followers who have found and are faithful to their life ministry as those “attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ” (Ephesians 4:13). I want to be a part of that; how about you?

Father, grow me into a mature follower! Keep me focused on my piece of the Kingdom where you have called me to serve. In Jesus’ Name, amen.
