In everything I do, I want to strive to be faithful, first to God and then to those around me

Steadfast Love

Scripture Reading: Proverbs 3:3-4

Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man.

Are you a morning person, afternoon person, or night person? Or none of the above? I am not a morning person. I struggle in the mornings and guess what, I do not drink coffee!!! I know, I know! I wish I did because I feel like that would help me tremendously, but I hate the taste! I have a difficult time even thinking right in the morning, so I can talk myself into not getting up when I should. Even when I do get up, I don’t move or think very efficiently.

Because I struggle with mornings, I must be intentional about being on time. To be quite honest, I am not always dependable at showing up when I should to my obligation of the day. Usually it is because I think I have more time than I do or just move slow; this makes time go by quickly. Then, when there is a valid excuse, it does not really matter if I am consistently late otherwise.

In everything I do, I want to strive to be faithful, which includes dependability, loyalty, trustworthiness, truth and devotion. This means that I need to start my day out right. I need to not give myself excuses and I need to do it even when I don’t feel like it. I need to let my yes be yes, and my no be no. Too often we don’t set boundaries in our lives and we tend to commit to things we shouldn’t. But, if we do commit, we have people counting on us so we need to do what we said we would.
Trustworthiness and truth can be difficult for some as well. Are you being trustworthy with your hours, your reasons, your responsibilities? Are you busy looking busy and not really doing what you should be doing? Are you taking things that don’t belong to you? Are you taking advantage of your employer in any way? Are you showing up to your volunteer responsibilities? Are you being consistent with your volunteer responsibilities? No matter where we are, let’s choose to be present and give it our all. Let’s choose to be faithful no matter how we feel that day.

Father God, please help me to be faithful in my responsibilities. Please help me to represent you well, amen.
