How to be Used by God

God asked us to stay humble… remain quiet… respond in love, not in “like”

Be Transparent
Transparency Protected

Scripture Reading: Numbers 12:1-16

Key Verse: Numbers 12:3

(Now Moses was a very humble man, more humble than anyone else on the face of the earth.)

Moses had never tried to be a “big shot” in God’s eyes or anyone else’s. Moses not only didn’t seek the job God called him to, he even resisted taking it – feeling inadequate. Our scripture for today tells us that Moses was “more humble than anyone else on the face of the earth.” Our world’s opinion of that would be that Moses would be taken advantage of, as well as lose many opportunities that might have been his if he would promote himself to people. But there is an unseen fact in Moses’ approach… his God protects and promotes the humble. Jesus taught this principle in Matthew 23:12: For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.

Moses, in Numbers 12, was being criticized and spoken ill of by his own family. Moses didn’t defend himself, he didn’t need to. God hears all – God saw Moses’ humble spirit. God stepped into this situation and defended Moses, “big time!”

If we are going to be used of God, we must, absolutely must, learn this lesson. God will fight our battles for us. God will reward our transparency and honesty, even if others try to use it against us. God will defend us when we are accused falsely. The key is: let God do it instead of our puny efforts. When our pride is hurt, we tend to get defensive and strike back. God asked us to stay humble… remain quiet… respond in love, not in “like.” Don’t let yourself worry about yourself… God is the unseen defender of the humble!

Father, I humble myself before you. I surrender all the worries I tend to have about ‘me’ and I will rest in you. In Jesus’ Name, amen.
