Why Is There Evil If God Is Good?
Who Is God? – Part 2
Scripture Reading: Romans 11:33-36
Key Verse: Romans 11:34
For who can know the Lord’s thoughts?
Who knows enough to give him advice?
Please take a moment to read the scripture for today. Note the phrase, “how unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out.” Why do we humans feel that we need to totally understand God and His ways or we can’t believe? We don’t do that in any other areas of our lives. For example, most of us can’t explain how our voices travel over the airways and enter another person’s phone. We can’t adequately explain how microwaves work or how computers can contain such a vast amount of information in small chips. Most of us, in these areas, simply enjoy the benefits of these examples even though we leave the explanations to the experts.
The Bible asks us to do the same thing with God. We are asked to live by faith, enjoy the benefits of believing in God’s promise without needing to understand everything about God. God is bigger than our minds can take in and wiser than our minds can imagine—how unsearchable are His judgments! As I have often reminded people, the Bible always refers to us as “children” of God not “adults.” We won’t reach adulthood until we get to heaven and then, we still won’t have the wisdom of God. We believers must live this life with child-like faith!
The fourth fact we believe about God is that He is all wise. That being the case, we don’t try to understand the depths of His wisdom. We certainly want to grow in our knowledge of God’s love and wisdom, but we will never get to the end of it.
Father, I am your child and will walk with you today in faith and trust of your care over my life! In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
