Trust God’s Opinion
Scripture Reading: Ephesians 2:14-20
Key Verses: Ephesians 2:21-22
In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.
Most Christ followers feel unworthy to be used by God in great ways! When we see the power of people in the Bible, we can feel small in comparison. It is easy to think that God would never choose us to accomplish a great work in His Kingdom.
Our scripture today challenges these negative thoughts. The apostle Paul is painting a picture of the work Jesus Christ does in us that makes us worthy. We are God’s temple … God lives in us by His Spirit. Because of this fact, we are being built up into a great work of God. You and I are becoming a holy temple in the Lord. If this is true, then we are worthy to be used of God, not because of us, but because of the work Jesus Christ did for us.
If we are not used of God, it is not because we are unworthy. Some may not be used of God because they refuse to accept God’s opinions about themselves. If you reject God’s work in you, you’ll not be open or willing to be used of God. These negative thoughts don’t reflect the truth. They reflect a lie that has been accepted as truth. If God’s Word tells me that I am a temple, housing the very presence of God’s Holy Spirit, it is true whether I can accept it or not. Just because I don’t “feel” it or “sense” it doesn’t negate the Word of God. The “just must live by faith” is the motto for our daily lives. The Bible says it and I believe it!
Father, because of Jesus in me, I can be used by you. I am excited to see what plans you have for me today! In Jesus’ Name, amen.
