Trust God’s Opinion
Is It Not I?
Scripture Reading: Psalm 66:1-10
Key Verse: Exodus 4:11
The Lord said to him, “Who gave man his mouth? Who makes him deaf or mute? Who gives him sight or makes him blind? Is it not I, the Lord?
God has an opinion about you! He has formed a plan for each of us based on His opinion. God has an opinion about your personality, abilities and usefulness. Unfortunately, there are other opinions that are floating around in our memories that describe us. These other opinions often do not agree with God’s. These opinions have been shared with us over the years from significant people in our lives. It is a sad reality that these other opinions often carry more weight with us than God’s opinions. If we believe that God looks on the inside of us – not limited by the outward appearances – it’s illogical that we reject His opinions … yet most do!
Moses was called by God to accomplish a great “purpose” in the history of Israel. God told Moses that divine power would work through Moses to make it all happen. Moses rejected God’s opinion and clung to his own opinions about himself. Exodus 4:14 tells us that the Lord’s anger burned against Moses. Nevertheless, God did not force Moses to follow “Plan A” and provided a “Plan B” through Moses’ brother Aaron.
Each of us has these “opinions” bantering about in our brains – telling us many messages about ourselves. Our self-talk reflects these messages as we repeat them over and over to ourselves. Have you ever analyzed these messages? Have you ever sorted them out and identified who gave you each message? God needs you to identify His messages and live by His opinions!
Father, thank you for believing in me and seeing the person I can become in you. Give me courage today to listen and follow your opinions. In Jesus’ Name, amen.
