God Hates What?
Hands that Shed Innocent Blood
Ha! I haven’t LITERALLY shed innocent blood before, so I am now 1-3, right? Right?? Well, not exactly. While yes, most of us can say we haven’t literally shed innocent blood, I believe there is a deeper meaning here that does apply to us.
Remember, yesterday I spoke on the power of words, how they can tear down and destroy. Words can be extremely painful. Think of a time in your life where someone has used their words to hurt you, it cuts deep right? When we are quick to judge someone based on outward appearance, or use our words to speak against someone, we shed innocent blood. We use our words to cut innocent people, people whom God loves and died for. So… I guess that means I’m 0-3.
It is so powerful to know that God hates the shedding of innocent blood. That His heart cries out for the innocent and that one day His justice will come and right every wrong. The question I ask myself when I read this verse is this, “How am I protecting the innocent in my life, not only in my actions but with my words?”
Philippians 2:2 says, “then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind.” Instead of shedding innocent blood, let us be like-minded, sharing the same love and being allies instead of enemies.
Lord, forgive us when we shed innocent blood, may we protect the innocent and be united in you, amen.
